Online learning is increasingly being used as a method of providing asbestos awareness training.

The HSE recognises the use of online learning as a delivery method for asbestos awareness training, meeting all requirements of Regulation 10 of the control of asbestos regulations.

The flexibility of the online course allows for you to take the course whenever or wherever it most suitable and convenient for yourself.  Asbestos Awareness training is applicable to and a legal regulation for workers likely to come into contact with asbestos and their supervisors.

Online training is the cheapest and most accessible way to gain Asbestos awareness training. Rather than the classroom based training, the trainee is stimulated with engaging video content. The online training covers the following modules with a short test after each, you will need to study each module to gain a 100% pass rate with 3 attempts at each module.

Module 3-Avoiding the risk from asbestos

Module 4-Outline of asbestos legislation

Asbestos can be deadly if disturbed and not treated with the caution and proper training. Up until its ban in 2000, asbestos was widely used in construction trade due to its heat resistant qualities; however it has been proved to be a deadly substance threatening the health and safety of people exposed to the fibres.

Each year many people and diagnosed and die due to asbestos related disease, such as asbestosis and Mesothelioma. It is important that workers, especially tradespeople who are likely to come into contact with asbestos, are properly trained and how to best recognise and identify asbestos and avoid the risks that come with it so as they are not unnecessarily exposed.
