Insulated asbestos containing flasks on sale in UK

Even though asbestos has been banned in the UK for many years now, products containing asbestos still find their way into the country.

Most recently, it was discovered that insulated flasks were available to purchase on Amazon, ebay and John Lewis stores that contained asbestos.

The products were recalled once the discovery of asbestos was made.

The flasks were made in China.

They had loose fill asbestos packed within the two insulating walls of the flask in order to be able to retain heat.

This would pose a health risk if the flask became damaged and released the asbestos fibers into the atmosphere.

Once inhaled, the fibers can cause various life threatening diseases such as mesothelioma.

The flasks affected and being recalled are the 1 litre Pendo flask.

They contain the specific barcode: 5050577588369, and the model number: O-58836.

You are strongly urged to stop using these flasks with immediate effect should you own one.
