The HSE have updated their range of online asbestos essentials task sheets.
The sheets provide essential information for those working in the building and related trades.
They have been updated to stress the importance of gaining the correct information, receiving appropriate training, and instructions on how best to deal with asbestos.
Employers, Managers and sole traders will be able to find out what they need to do when working with or near asbestos containing materials.
They will be given information to enable them to decide on the nature of the task in hand and the steps required to carry out the job safely.
A licensed contractor will be required to deal with high risk asbestos materials such as insulation, pipe lagging, sprayed coatings and loose asbestos.
The task sheets describe what equipment is needed to carry out a particular task for those jobs that don’t require a licence.
They provide a step by step guide and also cover the action you will need to take to reduce exposure.
Method sheets and equipment sheets are included, giving advice on the correct tools for the job and how to use them.
Illustrations and full colour images are used to help provide a step by step guide.
